Arrow one man canoe

I'm a new paddler looking for an old canoe to get into the sport. I found an arrow one man for $500 and was wondering if this seems like a good deal. I know nothing of the boat but most of the boats I've seen are at least $1000 and I don't want to spend that on my first canoe. If it matters I'm 5-9 and weigh around 155. Any advice would be appreciated.

Difference in canoe characteristics

Hi all,
I'm after some helpful information please on the difference between the following OC1 canoes in relation to my physical attributes.
I was looking at purchasing one of the following, Hurricane, Pegasus, Kaimana or Hihumanu. I am 6ft 2" and weigh approx 78kg (lightweight) and most of my paddling is done on flat and small washing machine like swell up to 1m. (in a bay).
Any suggestions would be appreciated. This seems to be the only forum where people actually seem to voice their opinion instead of always saying "go out and try them all first". I can't.

Surfski paddle

I just got a surfski but do not have a paddle yet. Does anyone know where I could get a used or relatively cheap carbon fiber kayak paddle?

Mirage and Bradley manufacture (mainland US)

Does anybody know if Current Designs is still building the Mirage. Last I heard they were bulding the Mirage inconjuction with Wenonah Canoe in Minnesota. I e-mailed Wenonah several month ago with no reply.

Does anybody have Calvin Hirahara e-mail/phone number?

Gelcoat Bubbling

A friend of mine stores his canoe in cotton bag outside of his house. We took it out yesterday for a run and when we unbagged the boat, we found a lot of small bubbles in the gelcoat. I've heard of this happens when something wet is allowed to sit on the canoe while the canoe is being stored like a wet foam seat.

Can anybody who has experience with working with gelcoat confirm:
1. is it caused by prolonged water exposure?
2. are the bubblest permanent?
3. is there a way to get rid of them short of sanding and reapplying gelcoat?
4. will it progress or will delamination occur if nothing is done to repair it?

Tahitian Canoes v. Hawaiian Canoes

The photos posted on the front page got me thinking about the differences between the Tahitian OC6 canoes and the Hawaiian OC6 canoes. The iako to canoe attachment points are one obvious difference as is the shape of the nose. Has anybody paddled in both and can note the difference between the two in terms of hull shape, length, width, rocker, etc. and how both boats handle?

Storage of OC-1

I was wondering that best way to keep my fusion in the garage.
Should I hang it form the celing or the wall?
what do you guys do?

Looking to rent an OC-1 in May 2006

I'm trying to see if anyone can help. I have a team coming in from Australia for the month of May to race in the Molokai relay and solo races. They want to rent a Pegasus or Fusion OC-1 with adjustable seat for these races. If anyone has an extra one to rent, please let me know and they'll leave a security deposit along with the rent. I explained to them that if any damage occurs, they'll have to pay for the replacement of the canoe. Really appreciate if anyone can help out. Email me at kalei95@hotmail.com.
Aloha.
