Molokai Committee Boat Captain Fundraiser

On Saturday October 9th, one of the Molokai Committee Boat Captains by the name of Joe Zbin fell into a hole in Lono Harbor. He severely fractured his hip and was flown from Molokai to Oahu for emergency surgery the morning of the race. He later suffered a setback when the surgery failed and his hip had to be re-pinned. Almost immediately he developed a serious infection which required a month long hospital stay for treatment with antibiotics. He then developed an allergic reaction to the antibiotics and remains hospitalized.

New business- Makai Pier and Hawaii Kai Shuttle

I feel that most business do not not like to promote themselves here on the forum. So.....I'll do it for a business that I think we can all benefit from. I saw today that there is a shuttle that will pick people up at Kaimana beach and take them to HK and/or Makai pier. I think this is a great service for those of us that have regular jobs and can't take 4 hours out of their day to do open ocean runs. This is good for the sport. The more businesses that can provide a profitable and valuable service to the sport the better we are and the sport is.

Hero's Come to the Rescue

Bad things happen in threes they say – but the kids of HCKT (Hawaii Canoe & Kayak Team) and the men of the US National Olympic kayak program are hoping that is not the case this time around.

Advice for SoCal oc1 Winter series

I'm getting really excited about my first go at the SoCal Winter series! I've been paddling the big boats for a little over 5 years now, but have minimal experience on the little boats.

So my question is this, the 1st event (La Jolla Shores, Saturday Nov 13th) features a 4 mile short course and an 8 mile long course; should I jump right to the long course because I feel comfortable racing multi-hour 6-man races, or is the learning curve so steep that I should cut my teeth racing the short courses to gain more experience?

Mahalo in advance!
