Real Paddle Boarders Do it Laying Down

You know the feeling after a long paddle out to a remote surf break, or paddling hard into a big wave against the wind? Now imagine that feeling for 32 miles, or at least 5 straight hours. That sums up the intensity and insanity of the few "traditional" paddle boarders who take on the Kaiwi Channel every July. Now imagine the millions of people who have tried stand up paddling claim they are also "paddle boarders".

South of the Border Run

I recall a post concerning San Diego runs. I have not been on the coast in over 30 years but still born and raised there. Did a lot of surfing in Baja in the 60's. I remember lots of days of great winds off of Norhern Baja in the summer. We had to surf inside 38 1/2 to get a place that was not blown out. Is anyone back in Cali taking advantage of that? Seems like a run from 38 1/2 to La Fonda would be epic. Plus once at La Fonda....really good marguritas and longosta to top it off. Maybe you guys shoud think about a race down there. Sort of like the tecate to ensenada cycle race.

HCRA canoe specifications

When were the original HCRA canoe specs drawn up? Has there been any changes or modifications to these specifications? Were any boat builders of the day involved in the writing and/or changes of these specifications?

Escort Boat Responsibilities

I just have a question as to the escort boat's responsibilities regarding incoming/outgoing traffic. Specifically, I paddle for a club in the Hui Wa'a association, and when we have regattas at Haleiwa beach park, there is sometimes lots of incoming/outogoing traffic in and out of the harbor. The race course does run perpendicular to the mouth of the harbor, so any incoming or outgoing traffic must pass through the race course. Usually, the traffic doesn't interfere with our races, and the escort boats wait for the traffic to go through the course before starting a race.
