Nappy is off to the Big Island this weekend for a SUP race. It's the lull before the States storm coming up next Saturday.

On TV news tonight : Gérard Teiva resigned. He is no longer the coach of Shell Va'a... New coach is Jimmy Pirato.

I'm looking to try paddling an OC-1. The threads I've seen here in the forums do not look promising for trying to rent one. So, I'm hoping that a resident paddler would be willing to let me try one out. Mostly, I just want to be able to take one out for and hour or two in relatively calm water, maybe try to catch a little swell if it feels right.

Got a family member flying in from CA who paddles,anyone know where we can rent a OC-1 from a shop or someone? any leads will be greatly appreciated.mahalo nui

Just wanted to get the word out early for this year's edition of the Race Around the Hat. Registration will be up shortly and we are excited to have some excellent sponsors onboard. Kialoa was nice enough to provide with paddles to give away, Maoli Wa'a also provided paddles and clothing, Broad Reach Paddles will be providing give paddles as well. Island Paddler will also be there with prizes. As always Ocean Paddler TV will be there to document the event.

Japanese Paddler made a 200km paddle in two days on his OC-1 from Hachijojima, an island off the coast of Japan to mainland Japan over the weekend. This crossing was made in 23 hours across the Kuroshio Current which is the 2nd fastest current in the world. Waters between Hachijojima and mainland Japan are rough due to currents moving in all directions at a maximum speed of 5 knots and at times creating whirlpools and choppy conditions due to the current moving in all directions as seen in the video below.

I've not done this race but those i know that have rave about it. Looks like a strong field this year with paddlers coming from Hong Kong, Perth, NSW, Darwin, Gold Coast etc.

Hats off to those responsible for posting OHCRA Regatta lanes in a timely fashion.

Some of you will already know that Emilie Janchevis has been training hard to go to Tahiti next month and represent Hawaii in the super Aito Vahine race next month.
She has previously had great results in the V1 and is expected to perform well again,BUT she is having trouble covering all the expenses.
She is too humble to ask here herself so
Surely we can all help,She is a great prospect to sponsor for any local company or organization Does anyone have any contacts at Hawaiian Air?
Let's start fundraising and send her down there to compete at the highest level.

My wife and I will be in Fiji for the first couple of weeks in August and are wondering if anyone can point us towards a Suva/Pacific Harbor/Nadi based club that might have a couple of extra seats for guest paddlers?

We've both been paddling in San Diego for the last six years, so we shouldn't have too much trouble blending in with other paddlers. So far I've been unsuccessful reaching anyone through the Fiji Outrigger.com 'contact us' emails and was hoping that there might be some extended ohana here with the hookup.
