Happy Thanksgiving Everybody

To all the paddling maniac's from across the world, hope you guys all have a great Thanksgiving Day. Make sure that you all have your meal at noon or early afternoon so that you all can get an afternoon run in. It is howling here in Hawaii which makes for a sleigh ride at everyone's favorite spot on each island. Enjoy....

To the Tahiti ohana, South American ohana, Left coast and right coast on the continental US and everything in between, Australia and New Zealand.....Aloha to all. Have a great day!!

Jaws Out.

What is the measurement of "rocker"

We always talk about how much rocker a boat has, or doesn't have, What is the measurement? And how does one know that one boat has more than the other. I would assume that the builders have "borrowed" one another's boats to see and compare, I have seen diagrams of Kayaks and surfski's with cross sections, But it really looks like a bunch of lines to me since I have nothing to relate them to. I have also seen boats mounted on walls and pictures taken but again without reference the pictures don't mean much.

This is a good link on design and building of surfski's and where I got the diagram http://www.surfski.info/content/view/218/156/

Icing Up

What's the best way to de-ice my zephyr? The extra drag and weight makes for a great workout, but the speed sucks!

Long Road Trip

3 hours each way twice a week to paddle with Team Arizona, no problem.
6 hours each way every second weekend to race in SoCal, no problem.
3,400 miles roundtrip to race at Gibsons and the Gorge, no problem.
Moving to Maui in two days, NO PROBLEM!!!
Car on the dock at San Diego yesterday with two canoes for the big trip.

OC1 Workouts

Hey guys, just a few questions about fitness.

  1. How do you guys train when you're not paddling?
  2. Do you have a specific workout?
  3. What is your favorite paddling run?
  4. How do you train in your oc1?
  5. How would i practice flying my ama? (as in, is there a place pretty deep non poluted water that has good waves or bumps that i would be able to practice?)

Any help would be appreciated guys

Thanks so much,
Kcchee11
