Kaena Challenge Canoe Race Sunday Aug 10, 2008

Aloha Paddlers,

Makaha Canoe Club’s Kaena Challenge Canoe Race will be held on Sunday August 10, 2008. The long course will start from Sunset Beach Oahu and finish at Yokohama Bay (21 miles)(waves permitting) or finish at Makaha Beach (27 miles). The first 18 miles are very fast if tradewinds are up with the start immediately in the wind line at Sunset Beach. Short course will be from finish of long course to Makaha Beach. OC-1s will also race the long course starting a few minutes after the six man canoes start. It will be interesting to see how OC-1s will compete against OC-6s various men’s women and mixed divisions. For more information email keau@flex.com.

Lost board bag at Kaluakoi

We left a 16 ft. Da Kine board bag at Kaluakoi before the Molokai Paddleboard race. Our name, address, and phone number are written in huge lettering on the board bag. Anyone see it??

Folding OC1

Not everyone has a vehicle that can carry an OC, so some have been working on the idea of a folding model. Here's one of the latest prototypes. I know how it comes apart, but not sure how it goes back together. Duct tape?

Tragic death in NZ

Four friends set out on a stormy day for a downwind run in OC-1's. One didn't make it back.
A sad reminder to take safety precautions seriously.

Paddling in the Big Apple

Lucky me will soon be leaving home on an 8 week adventure and will be visiting France (have a 21kmn race organised at Biscarosse) Ireland (dont know of any paddlers) then New York city for 5 days from the 9th September and would love to have a paddle with some of the locals if possible, left a message on the nycoc site but no reply, so if there is any one who could loan me an oc1 or a spot in a 6 man for a training paddle that would be great, also any tips re good hotels etc .Then I will be off to the paddling /surfing mecca again Tahiti and will sink a few Hinanos on Huahine with Hiro C and his mates.
Rambo would love to have some copies of the hammo film to hand out if it will be finished before I go.

Any Mafia Going to World Va`a Championships ?

I`m going out to do some sprinting in the Tahitian boats, anyone else?

You know the Dume, now meet Drano

Okay, it's a little pixelated and steamyat the beginning ( my GoPRo housing leaks a little).
