Dear Mr. Ellison

Dear Mr. Ellison: We understand you now own most of lanai and you are an avid competitor. We in Hawaii have had a problem putting together an outrigger crew that can beat the Tahitian crews in our own channel. What we need is a dedicated approach that would cherry pick our best young paddlers and place them under the tutelage of an awesome coach. Wow...Lanai seems like a good venue for that. Lodging, maybe some income and a concerted effort to put together the same sort of program you have so successfully done with your America's Cup teams.

Na Wahine Ikaika prize money

The question came up regarding the prize money categories for the Inaugural Na Wahine Ikaika women's race coming up on Oct. 11. There will be a cash purse for the following categories of individual discipline: SUP, Prone, Surfski and canoe. The canoe can be either an OC-1 or a V-1. Not enough V-1 competitors to make its own prize money category, but if a V-1 wins the race, then that paddler is eligible for the canoe prize money. Hence why it is labeled "OC-1/V-1". Pass the word to the women to come race. Find out more at www.kanakaikaika.com

Product to use to buff out fine scratches on OC1

Good day.

I have a 2012 Hurricane OC1 that is mostly black. There are a numerous fine scratches on the bottom of the hull, made more visible by the fact the that color is black. None of the scratches are deep. I was going to do some touch ups, and was wondering what product paddlers normally use on their OCs?
Any feedback on this is appreciated.

Cheers.

Aloha nui kakou- I am the messenger So don't get all nutz...... Please be aware of the type of paddle that you will be using to race with this weekend. One of the rules does not allow carbon blades to be race with. Several weeks ago a crew got penalized at one of our race events for two "illegal" blades. Official boats will be on the look out during the race. Any blade that is seen will be given added time. Hate to have any one race to later find out that there was a penalty given due to carbon blades.

Dad Center

How was the race? Any results? I am surprised no one has mentioned anything of it. There are so many awesome wahine crews and they deserve acknowledgement.

Stolen Mirage Puffy Ama (all white)

Mirage Puffy Ama was stolen from a Na Keiki O Ka Mo'i Canoe Club canoe at Poka'i Bay in Wai'anae late Monday night (Aug 18th) or early Tuesday morning (Aug 19th). Theft discovered around 8:00AM Tuesday morning by a Club paddler paddling on his OC1 and noticed something missing on one of the canoes on the beach.

Thieves cut the lashing cords on iakos with a machete and took off with the ama. Ama is all white with standard "Puffy" sticker at the front left side.

If anyone has any information regarding this theft, please contact the Honolulu Police Department.
