new vantage full throttle

Anyone tried the new vantage full throttle? Thoughts on performance/quality? Possibly versus a china pegasus?

dragonboat team forming

Treasure Coast Dragonboats out of Palm City florida and Brickel Key in Miami is looking for OC paddlers to join us at either location. We are an existing mixed team with a winning record. The Miami division is in dire need of fit men and women. Your OC experience translates well into Dragonboating. In the Stuart/Martin County area, we are looking to start new teams from scratch. We have the boats and equipment. We need the bodies. Get on board.

maui to molo logistics

Anyone have any info - contacts - for getting a canoe from kona to maui and of course from molo to kona? not planning to do any other distance races so I dont have the option of leaving it there for the next race. Also, does anyone use an escort boat for that race if they do it solo?

sciatic nerve

Again, im a very new paddler - 6 months. Initially I had problems with my foot falling asleep which I was told is normal and will go away as I learn to not lean on my ama so much. Some days its fine, some days not. Any suggestions as to something I could put on my seat or do to it to help with this? For now I have a Hypr canoe but am thankfully getting a new Pegasus in about 6 weeks - so stoked! Even when I padle on the right side and make my ama come up with every stroke it will still do it a little but. Just looking for suggestions. Thanks.

training for distance races

I am new to paddling. Like 6 months new. I want to try and train for the maui to molo race and would like any input as to the types of training schedules people recommend. Unfortunately I had to get a Hypr canoe to start off and I wouldnt trust that canoe to a race like that but I dont think my new Pegasus will make it in time to train with it for that race but still would like to know some kind of training schedule. On a side note I have to give a huge Mahalo to all the Kona paddlers at the harbor. They are the ones who taught me to paddle and welcomed me like a long time local. They are the best.

Keahiakahoe Race

Thank you to the hard workers from Keahiakahoe for today's event. The conditions were not ideal, as it was a long hot race. Speaking of one of the many that showed up it was worth it. Good people, good event, good grinds and nice awards.

Mahalo,

Is it alright to wax your paddle for grip?

I read in a previous post that you shouldn't wax your paddle. It has really good grip that way. If not, what should you do?

Common sense and tug boats

I drive a tug and it seems that ever since the superferry fiasco on kauai we are having more and more close calls with one man paddlers all over Hawaii.
Every paddler in Hawaii should understand that if you are in front of a tug and barge they can't stop, most of the time in our small harbors there is just no room to maneuver out of the way, if something happens and you flip your boat in front of the tug you will die! Is it that important that you cross in front of that tug? you decide! but before you do understand where you stand on our list of responsibilities. #1. safety of our crew #2. safety of the vessel. #3. safety of our tow. #4. safety of our cargo. #6. safety of the environment. #7 safety of the public. that is you guys
I don't know about you but if it was me and I was 7th on the list I would think twice about crossing in front of a tug and barge.
YOU DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY IN A NARROW CHANNEL!!!
and where you do have the right of way just remember the old saying...
here lies John Smith he was right dead right but now he is just as dead as if he was wrong.

please enjoy the ocean and have fun but be safe and sensible and go home in one piece
Thanks for letting me rant.
