Anybody know where I can have my OC1 repaired in Arizona area? I have a stress crack developing on my hull.
It is Foam core carbon.

replacing rear steering cable for older Outrigger Connection Viper OC-2

I have an older Viper OC-2 and the rear steering cable on the footpaddle is coming undone. Wondering how to replace it. How do I get the new cable into the hull and coming out at the rear where it hooks into the rudder setup? The holes for the cable are very small and just a little bit bigger than the diameter of the cable. Anybody has any advice? Mahalo in advance

bondo or fiber glass

does bondo or fiberglass resin work as a filler for oc1. not necessarily for repairs but for filling dents. we are trying to repair a polaris the nose craked all the way around and was repaired. during repair the seam in the front 18" was filled. we were wanting to fill the rest of the seam to match the first 18" of the boat. we are planning to repaint the whole canoe with auto paint. bondo might be easier and cheaper that epoxy or fiberglass. any thoughts?

Does waxing/polishing an OC-1 hull really make a performance difference?

I read somewhere about how applying a coat of marine grade polish to your OC-1 hull is supposed to make it perform better. Huh, really? I understand a coat of polish may be a way to care for and protect my boat, but how do folks support the claims that adding a coat of polish or "magic spray" will actually improve it's performance? Note, I said it's (the boats) performance, not your performance. =)

Canoe failure analysis

I was wondering if any of you epoxy gurus can give me insights into a structural failure that I just experienced. Here is the scenario: 1. the canoe is epoxy/ composite. 2. The canoe is 1 week old. 3. The canoe has been used three times in light ocean conditions. 5 knot wind, 2 foot swell. 4. The last time the canoe was used it was washed down and placed on padded truck racks. 6. When placed on the racks the afternoon temperature was 85 degrees and cooling. 7. The drain plug was not removed 8.

Snow-shovel paddle

Back in ''03 when I saw my first OC-1 in competition (solo, in a kayak race) the fellow had a paddle that looked about 11-12 inches wide.

Did my eyes deceive me or were there paddles that wide on the market? As I recall it looked like a butcher block with strips running longitudinally down the blade.

Paddle attachment to Erg / COncept 2 rower

Aloha,

Anyone out there used the Vermont Waterways Canoe Paddling Adapter for a rower. http://www.concept2.com.au/products/accessories/paddleadapter.aspx

Are there any other adapters that you have seen or used and liked?

I have tried an older version of this and it worked ok but a second bench was used and it took up too much space.

Thanks for the guidance...

Canoe Rocker

I have searched around for some specs and comparisons on boat rockers and didn't find much. I think Rambo had a pic comparison of a hurricane and a pegasus on a wall?

Does anyone have or know of a review with most to least rocker?

Thanks for any help....

"Lagoon Boats"

Hey!! It is flat out there, and yesterday I took out an old "Lagoon Boat" for a rudderless spin. What ever happen to these canoes? They track very well in the flat and are very sleek and smooth. In Hawaii, The Fiberglass Shop use to make them out in Campbell Industrial Park. Later, Tiger Canoe acquired the mold and started making them in Kona. Also, Karel made them from an old mold from Paul Gay's back yard. Sure would like to compare them with the V-1's of today. The Lagoon boats were raced rudderless in the Steinlager Sprints on the Ala Wai 20 years ago.

Paddle size?

I need to order a paddle and Im having a hard time picking a length.
I know its been covered more than once but the search function dosent work for me. I have gone back through and read some post but I still need to know before I place my order the correct length.

Im going to paddle 1 man and the paddles Ive been considering are the Kialoa Axel II and the Quick blade Hapa Hybrid.
Both maunfactures recommend a different length paddle. One list 48.5 and one list from 49 to 51.
I was thinking 50" was the way to go. So what I was wondering is 50" to long for 5'7"?

Thanks up front
