I do not have room in my garage for my OC-1 and the OC-2 I am planning on buying. I do have a safe area in my back yard (I live in Hawaii). I am planning on building or buying a rack. Does anyone have any suggestions on how best to store OC-1s outside? Any plans or pictures? Would I need something with a roof, or would a cover on the canoes work OK? Thanks for your advise.

Mirage or Bradley Lightning?

I'm building an oc1 out of 1 pound eps foam and i am trying to figure out the best way to run ruder cables. i used pvc pipe as an insert for the rudder shaft, and im thinking a small dia. pvc pipe might work good to set in the foam to run my cables through. Tips anyone?

Is one strand of a rudder cable breaking a big issue? I will change it out but I would like some experienced knowledge (or estimated guess) on how quickly I should get on this... I finished a race and noticed it in the post race wash and boat check....

I have recently purchased an OC-1 and noticed I'm sitting lower to the water. In OC-6 I currently use a 50" paddle, should I be using a shorter paddle for OC-1?

I recently moved to New Mexico and am going crazy because I have no canoe club here. I have decided to try to get my own OC1. Does anyone have an old OC1 for sale, or know where I could get one at a low cost?

Can anyone refer me to a site/somebody to purchase a OC6?

I was wondering if anyone out there uses a Garmin Edge 705 Bicycle Computer while paddling oc1. It appears to be water resistant - as much as the Garmine Forerunner 305 is.

Any comments on how it performs as a paddling companion would be greatly appreciated.

I just today paddled a loaned Kaiwi Challenger OC-1. Very stable, 23' and I liked it. I am a marathon paddler. After an hour, I came into the dock and went to lift the boat out. It was lots heavier than when I left. It had taken on alot of water. There are no obvious holes in the hull. I can only guess that the rudder shaft liner is leaking. The boat has not been in the water for about 7 years.

Does anyone know if the grey plastic (rubber?) shaft sleeve can dry out to the point that it leaks? Also, does anyone know where to get another or fabricate a new watertight one? Thanks Carl at carlcookpaddler@gmail.com
