Does anyone on Oahu currently have a Kahele by Tiger Canoes?

Great PA'A Koa Nui pics. I couldn't help but notice how many Makana Alii paddles there were out there and they all looked to be new or in pretty good shape!

Since there doesn't seem to be a good source to obtain Makana Alii paddles, has anybody tried the new Kialoa Vana-Tahitian style double bend paddle? It looks to be similar. How does that compare?

Last week I did something dumb and busted the rudder on my surfski, so I need to find myself a new one.

I know that many people who paddle the Fenn Mako6 have changed out their rudders to a bigger one that can handle rough conditions better. If any of you are reading this, do you still have your old one laying around? Can I buy it off of you? (I am on Oahu.)

I will probably end up having someone build a new larger one for me around the shaft of my old one, but am looking for the quickest way to fix my boat so that I can get back on the water.

I'd like to pimp for a service I have used a number of times both inbound and outbound in the last two years. It is KAS Transport. Steve Skinner owns this company and, I gather, a retail canoe/kayak outfitters in upstate NY. He hauls for universities, builders and civilians. The last time he came was with a new trailer that can carry 40' shells. (I was sending the blue covered shell to Michigan)

why does the rudder make that hummin noise? what i gotta do to fix it?

Just came home from a training camp in Kailua and brought a pretty new paddle home with me. I am looking for a soft "sleeve" type bag for it to transport back and forth to the river. Not really looking for a "travel bag," but something made of terry or fuzzy material for light protection. I can't seem to find one. Short of sewing one myself, does anyone know where to get such an item?

I am looking for an oc1 for our lakes and rivers in Northwest Montana. I don't plan on racing and am just looking to get some exercise and touring in. The closest place to get a new or used canoe for me is 500 miles away. i can get a used Makia for 1800.00 or a used glass Pegasus for 2800.00 or an xm for 3500.00. Demoing and mulling over options is difficult in my case because of travel issues and the xm needs a deposit very soon.

What's the reasoning behind rigging a canoe with dry cord? I've always done it like that and I thought the reasoning was when the cord gets wet it tightens up, thus we were always taught to splash the rigging when you get in a canoe. Anyone have a good explaination, cause we get that question from time to time in our club?
