I have $1,400 to spend on a used OC1. I have done a little research & am leaning twords a Naia',Carbon hopefully. I have a Arrow & don't leave the canal or go out farther than I can swim in safely.

I've come across several Vantages,Pahoas, all HYPR Built, no Tiger Built:(
I would like a Zypher, but can't find 1. I'm 190lb,5'8". Thanks for any Input. I do t wanna have to be rescued or have a partner paddle in while I hang on-FAIL

Help....I lost the screw attachment that locks the iako to the (front of the) ama on my Zephyr. So now I just have a big hole up there with no way to keep the iako in unless I duct tape it on. Can anybody let me know how I can quick rig it (with or without using duct tape). Or maybe a better alternative. I'm on vacation in a small town with no paddle/canoe or outrigger stores close by. they do have a Walmart though. I have about a week here with plenty of good water to paddle in....so I'm thinking about heading to a hardware store in the morning and might have to make something.

It's a bit of a long shot, but one of our paddlers had her OC-1 stolen off her vehicle last night (she was going to use it as a volunteer for the Ironman triathlon). The boat was stolen in Penticton, BC, Canada. I just thought there are quite a few people on here from the area.

It's a BRIGHT lime green C-Lion with black flames on the side. Whoever stole it didn't steal the ama, so they'll be ditching it, or swimming, or advertising it as a really tippy kayak - cheap.

I know that this site often gets bashed for having many biased paddlers on it. But this post is not to promote one kind of model or brand of canoe. I just wanted to give credit where credit is due. The Kamanu guys have really gone out on a limb, at a significant financial burden to themselves, to test out new materials. They are making a push to become an environmentally friendly company in a petroleum based industry. So kudos to them. These pictures are borrowed from their web site. Bamboo cloth instead of fiberglass, cork and balsa core material, resins made from plant products.

In about a month and a half, The Earth Trot Project will be paddling an OC-6 from Kihei, Maui to Kalaupapa, Moloka'i to donate to the community down there.
