camping with a boat

I am thinking about getting into trailer camping and would like to know if anybody out there has heard of a way to pull a camper and take a smaller boat along. I have a 95 GMC 4X4 pickup and I ‘m thinking about getting a 20ftish pull behind camper which creates the problem of how to take the boat along. I think that hauling it in an upright position sounds the best but I’m not sure if anything is available on the market to do this. Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Molokai Surfski Solo

This weekend is the Molokai Surf ski Solo. Who will win? It is safe to say an Aussie. In fact, the top ten will be Australian. Why? The Aussies are the only kayakers racing. This year, The Molokai Surf ski Solo and Durban World Cup (South Africa) were scheduled on the same weekend. About three weeks ago, the once prestigious “World Championship of Surf ski” aka Molokai Solo was not even listed as an event on the Surf ski World Tour. How could this happen? Read more at:

Be great to see some of the OC1 guys get interviewed here.

Kamanu's OC-6

Exciting stuff on Kamanu's Facebook page with pictures of their OC-6 construction and testing.

For those obsessive compulsive outrigger fans, it is great.

First paddle of Hurricane...

Pleasantly surprised.. It moves a lot helluva better than any roto-kayak i've paddled. It's a lot nicer to be looking forward than back in a shell, but the shell's sliding seat lets the legs play too. It seems faster than the 16', sliding seat Peapod I have, but need to try it same-day with my 27' single. I suspect the extra waterline and sliding seat (and leverage of long oars) will get me a little more slide per calorie. Rudder?! Woah.. the bugger turns!

Canoe Stolen

I am asking this forum for help. About a year ago I loaned a boat to an individual I thought was a friend. He had an unfortunate accident riding the boat which resulted in the ama being broken. He said he would pay for it and also wanted to purchase the boat. I gave him a price and he said he would mail me a check.

Lost Paddle

Anyone find a Broad reach double bend paddle with a red handle wash up on the beach in Kailua. Please call or email me. Lost it straped to our boat in the race yesterday.

Aloha.
