What is the next step for 6-man canoe design?

What is the next step for the progression of canoe design?

Will a new high-performance 6-man canoe design from Hawaii spread to Australia and/or California?

Will there be a canoe design evolution significant enough to impact iron man and 9-man races in California or Australia as there was in NewZealand with Kjeldsen's "Mahi Mahi"?

-Please focus your thoughts on how the teams and racing associations in Australia or California will react.
-Think more about solutions to the problems that might occur rather than pointing out something obvious such as money.

Specifics of Canoe and Paddler Performance in PA'A

Am very interested in hearing SPECIFIC observations and feedback re: the performance of the non-spec boats in this race. What was the exact weight of each non-spec boat? How did the non-spec boats handle big water? Does lighter ALWAYS = faster? If not, why not? What unique problems were encountered with the non-spec boats? Did the non-spec boats make a significant difference, or would the crews have performed just as well in spec boats?

Questions Paa race

Shouldn't this race end in Waikiki ?

How does this compare to a solo crossing - will it be more or will it be less difficult for the individual paddler ?

Will the open design speed up boats ?

What would be a good average speed in miles per hour for open design ?

Good luck escort boats

exactly what it says above. have a good one

KC Rockets

Apologies if I'm late to the party. Does anyone know the final specs on the new KC rockets? Who will paddle the two boats in Pa'a 'Eono Hoe?

PAA eono predictions

anybody wanna share?

New Race, New Rules?

The Pa’a ‘Eono Hoe is three days away. This race will change our sport. By opening the field to any six-man canoe specifications our sport is taking a step in the right direction. Don’t get me wrong- I do believe in preserving the culture and tradition of Hawaiian outrigger canoe paddling. We will always remember and honor where/how Hawaiian canoe paddling came to be. But we have already stepped away from tradition by changing so many things, such as racing in fiberglass canoes. If there are six people in the canoe with an ama rigged out to the left, is the tradition not alive anymore?
