How does paddle angle, 7,10,12 degrees differ in your stroke, benefits?

What is the most common paddle width for outrigger paddles?

Is it different for a single, and a 4 or 6 man?

Does the length of the race change the paddle size?

I'm now using a 91/2". I started with my marathon paddle at 83/4". I have difficulty with the 91/2" in upwind conditions but like its power. Curious...LNB

Has anyone lowered their seat height? In talking to Karel Jr. at the Oceanside clinic, he said his is dug out to only a 1/4 inch of foam on the bottom! Benefits? lower CG? Would that in turn shorten your paddle length used?

Ive read that for a good hard race you need about .5 - 1 gram per hour of sodium. In addition you also need potassium but not sure how much. I always thought that good old cytomax was enough to cover but according to the label its not anywhere near enough. Does anyone know of a drink that covers this? Or is it just assumed that in a race 2 hours or longer that you will stop long enough to pop a sodium pill? I paddle in Hawaii and sweat alot so I know I need to replace sodium. So far I have just used the Tahitian method of dragging my hand for a second and licking it for the salt - hi-tech I know but it seems like the simplest methods work best.

In case you are interested in the camcorder underwater housing please have a look. This is the first model and will likely undergo some minor changes, such as getting a handle, adding a camera hood, some rubber for shock damping just in case. I used acrylic to be able to use the infrared remote control. Many people use PVC, I don't think it is any cheaper overall. Total cost: $ 30.

The design is quite simple. Acrylic can be cut with a saw, or better scored, and then be sanded to the final shape. The only thing that you need to make is the disk-shaped end plate - no problem with a little patience.
