9:00/9:20/9:40 A.M. Race Start (check for your start time at registration friday night)
Wailua Beach to Salt Pond (Hanapepe)
Change at Hanama'ulu – 5 miles
Change at Kalapaki (Dukes’s) – 5 miles
Change at Poi'pu (Sheraton Beach) – 12 miles
Finish at Salt Pond – 12 miles For additonal parking, turn left before Salt Pond beach park entrance. No parking along roadside.

OK, lets see how long it takes for this to get off track.
Seems to me that most oc paddles are 10 degree bend. A couple (ZRE. Werner, Mudbrook) are 12 degree. All my paddles are 10, and I've never used a 12. Any thoughts on the differences.

I could be way off, but...... is it just my imagination or do the paddlers that currently live in Hawai'i, or have in the recent past, have less interest in talking about the technical aspects of paddling, canoe design and innovations than those who live outside the Islands? Why is that? Its obviously not for lack of knowledge..........I just dont get it.

I'm kicking this out there. As a novice paddler I have been getting on the water as often as I can and entering as many races as possible because as many of you have said, experience is everything. Something that I would like your input on is strategies for race starts. Lets just call it a 10mi race. Do you guys ball out for a certain amount of time or are you trying for a certain pace or ? I have overheard a guy saying that wherever you place after the start is where you will finish.
