So now that we have one started for the OC-1, who do you thinks going to take the surf ski? Some of the past winners(australians to be specific) are getting up there in age so I think a guy from hawaii could possibly take it this year. My bets on Sean Monahan. Ive seen him training like an animal out there and he's looking in top shape. What does everyone think?

Howzit everyone. A friend lost his seat yesterday (Wednesday 01/02/08) in the Hawai'i Kai parking lot. He thinks it blew off his roof during a rain squall. If anyone found a new Kainalu seat please private message me.

Who will win the big one this year ? Wich paddler has what it takes to win this years Kaiwi Oc1 race ? Will it be a Hawaiian , a Tahitian ? , a California Kid ? For me I would lean towards two Hawaiian paddlers Kai and Jr . I mean these guys are on a collision course and it will be interesting what the conditions are . If it was like last year Kai will have an advantage on Jr historicaly speaking but I would look for Danny Ching to give a better performance than last years pull out .But if , and that is IF there is surf you would have to put the house on Jr . of course historicaly speaking . Unless his arch rival Kai Bartlett can work some magic on his new boat the Scorpious . Will a Tahitian ever win ? Why dont the Tahitians ever win .

Just got in from an hour and a quarter OC6 paddle. 55 degrees. Wind blowing a steady 20 knots. Water cold enough to numb your hands. Can't wait till next week when we'll be in Lanikai.

In case you owm a Hurricane and want a slightly different ride/feel with it, consider a custom ama.

I've got a custom ama made by Brad Cole, Oahu. It is a discrete modification of the existing ama, gaining in width over the entire length, the bottom very discretely flattened and due to the extra volume shortened at the front iaku.

What does all that do ? The ama sits overall lighter on the water.
The key feature: it does not dive and pop out after at all - you probably know what I mean. It gives the Hurricane a smoother ride.
Those amas are made very well ad with great concern.

I just hope that nobody gets offended by this comment; I am sharing personal experience and have no intent/gain to promote or demote any product out there. They are all good; but if you like your Hurricane and want a slightly different feel, voila, you have an option, and I believe it is a very good one.

Anyone know what type of spray paint to use for some touching up?

I'm touching up some small chips and sanded down to the carbon fiber on a couple of spots and need a good spray paint and primer.

Heard a rumour that the solo race may be changed so as to be on a different week-end to the skis. Can anyone confirm this.
