500 Meters

Who would be the best 500 meter if everyone was there male and female?

First time out

I hit Budd Bay last saturday with my newly purchased Stingray and am hooked. I have stand up paddled, rowed, and kayaked but the OC1 is by far the most fun. The weather was gorgeous, 40 degrees, clear skies, no wind. I was out paddling for an hour and a half, I didn't want to stop. I plan on hitting the bay every weekend as my get-away-from-it-all-therapy.

I am an avid disc golfer also, but I can see this sport will occupy my time more.

Where to get a broken boat fixed

I broke my surf ski in half and would like to know who and where is the best place to get it fixed? Closer to Honolulu the better. Its a fenn with a carbon hull and glass deck if it makes a difference. Thanks!

S.U.P gear.

Aloha paddlers,
I have been playing with an idea to make a S.U.P (stand up paddle) appreal business, since I have fell in love with this sport so much in the past few yrs. Trying to start small, and get a good foundation, just seeing where this might go for me. Anyway If anyone is interested in supporting it let me know.

Weight distribution in the OC6

Hi Everybody,

I was wondering if anyone has any comments on the weight distribution for the six man in different water conditions.

it is widely acknowledged that a balanced boat (meaning boat is sitting flat when fully loaded and not front/back heavy) is the best way to seat a crew to obtain maximum speed and glide. However, would a front heavy boat be slower than a balanced boat on flat water conditions? Does anyone have enough experience to approximately quantify the loss of speed due to a front heavy boat on flats?

Does a front heavy boat have less of a problem in downwind conditions compared to flats? Would anyone deliberately seat a slightly front heavy boat in bumpy conditions?

How about a back heavy boat in the conditions mentioned above?

Thank you all in advance for your comments.

Cheers,
Orca_nick

speed?

Just curious at what rate other paddlers are paddling at. During a typical training run my cadence is between 70-80 strokes per minute. In flatwater on my single my avg speed is about 7 mph. I would love to hear from other paddlers.

Becky Stuart Invitational

Anybody have results from the Becky Stuart race ?
Thanks

No Show For Makaha Contest...

I wanted to send a big mahalo to everyone who showed up to Makaha last weekend to support the canoe and stand up contest benefitting Leighton Look. This is the third year of the contest and it's good to see many people from the surf community come out and support a great person and paddler. Nevertheless, I havent seen many from the canoe paddling communtiy show up to support brother Leighton. Most of us have benefitted from the paddles and canoes that Leighton and Les Look have made. Les's generousity to most should warrant showing up for half a day and saying hi or buying a raffle ticket. All the proceeds benefit Leighton, I dont think that's was too much too as--to come to Makaha to support the Look family. I understand that not everybody that wanted to show up, was able to do so. My problem is with the people who have known Les and Leighton for a long time and receive not only paddles (out of their generosity) but friendship from them as well and didn't show up! You know who you are!

Cheers,
Andrew Penny
