Ama feet Help

Hi

Im building a Hawaiian Sailing canoe.in my dads garage in Holland.Im at the point of finishing off my amas and since i have no technical drawings or material list.i have to do a lot of guess work, and look at photo’s
The thing you cant see on a photois what kind of material things are made off ’
This is the point where im kind off stuck. Can anyone tell me what kind off material the ama’s feet are made off??
this is the bit inbetween the ama and the aiko.
im guessign wood, pvc foam or some metal??
And if you know how the feet are laminated ito the ama (styrofoam) that would be even more key.
i dont need long explanations just few keypoints will do.

If any one can help that would be great.

OC 1 parts

Does anyone know where new OC1 drain plugs and metal iako spring clips can be bought on Kauai?

If I have to order them from another island, that would be fine. But, I'm the type of person that needs instant gratification and would rather drive some where to buy them, than wait several days to get them in the mail.

Cold Pack results

Anybody know if there is going to be results for the Cold Pack race availabel on line?

We want to learn to surf OC

We are a group of paddlers from a canoe club in British Columbia who have started paddling an OC6 and loving it. We paddle on flat water and would love to learn to surf in the OC. We figured the waves of Hawaii where it is warm would be a great place to learn and hope to do so this coming February. A great time to get away from the wet and cold West Coast!
Any suggestions on where to go? Where are the waves good to learn? Where can we rent equipment for up to a week and get a bit of instruction before we go play? Should we be looking at team boats or singles, or both? We'd prefer to be away from the big city and crowds but want to be where the waves are best for learning.

training v.s. talent= talent don't mean nothing

From what I have witness in all my years of paddling is that the paddler that is more "talented" will most likely lose to the paddler that trains hard. Unlike certain sports like surfing and most sports the paddler that is more experienced doesn't stand a chance against a paddler that rains hard. so what does having "talent" give you? NOTHING! Paddling is a sport unlike most others as you can not get by just by talent alone. You have to put in the time. The interesting part is when conditions are less that ideal, sometimes the guy or girl with "talent" can overcome the "trainer" but it's rare. The fact of the matter is that the person who trains hard eventually becomes "talented" and that negates the whole argument of the experienced paddler who has gotten by on talent alone. There are a few exceptions like Kea Pai'aina who can drink beer for beer with a pilute like me and still show up and mop the competition on any given day. Basically what I am saying is I salute those who train hard and make great strides. Everytime I am in a race I am reminded of these type of individuals. Their dedication and day to day effort to exceed in this sport does not go unnoticed at least to me. Like today, there was a race and I heard that 5 to 10 guys where planning a one man run tomorrow. I will be sleeping while these warriors will be building their base. All I can say is keep it up and you will be the men that will bring the title back to Hawai'i (Molokai). I just wish I had the wherewithall to do what you do. I would like to see what other paddlers think. What is better? Talent or Training.

Mahalo Danny and Al Ching Mudbrook Paddles

Aloha, I just wanted to say thank you to the Ching's for their awesome donation to P3 in Kona for the Master's Relay race held last weekend. That was a very generous donation. Glad to say I was one of the winning recipients.
Just want to say Mahalo from Kona.

Maui to Molokai Logistics?

  • Does this race require individual chase boats?
  • How are paddlers transporting their boats back to Maui?
  • Cost?
  • Is this a sideswell or downswell race?

Looking for info on paddling in Washington state during this holiday season?

I think it would be neat to paddle in the cold??? Anywhere from Seattle down to Olympia. The time frame would be from Dec 22 to Jan 1. Thanks in advance.
