Got Class?

I gotta question for the Cali boys & girls........on a scale of 1-10, 10 be highest or greatest interest, How do you feel about an OC3 class that is designed specifically for Cali waters? Ive been kicking the idea around for a few years and just wonder if theres enough interest to justify the development. Chime in with wether or not youre interested and what you might like to see in it. Im thinkin sub 150#'s, similar to the Tahitian style in hull design, but a bit more reserve bouyancy and a lil more rocker. Foot blocks, composite or aluminum iako's similar to OC1's, foam seats sorta like a hybrid of whats on an OC1 and whats on an OC6, blah, blah, blah.........
Cheers.

Injured

Last month I herniated 3 disks in my neck (C4/5 C5/6 C6/7) The C6/7 disk was herniated 6mm. Last week I recieved an epidural. Most of the pain in my right arm is gone, with pockets of minor pain remaning in my pec, rhomboid, lat and hand. Strength and feeling has yet to return to right hand. The doctor who performed the epidural says I can never paddle competitevly again, and perhaps not at all, nor surf or lift with out risk of paralysis. Has anyone else suffered this type of injury and been told the same but has since paddled without negative consequences? If so, how did you do it and how long did it take?

Recommend a reasonably priced sport watch

This is marginally related to paddling but I thought I'd ask anyway.

I've worn a a Timex Ironman watch for as long as I can remember. It has a decent face, stopwatch, countdown, etc. and the famous "indigo" back light. I wear it for paddling and often try to time myself when I'm doing a run. The placement of the stop watch buttons sucked however because everytime I paddled, my hand would hit the buttons and stop the watch upon flexion. Well, the ole' Ironman went in cognito and I have to buy a replacement. Can anybody recommend a good sportwatch that won't break the bank?

Molo Solo Finish 2008

Hi Gang,

We had a meeting today to discuss changing the finish for the Solo race back to Hawaii Kai.
Basically it's a done deal with the already long race not needing to be longer if you know what I mean.. Also we felt it does the Boat drivers good by not burning so much gas and time.

We also talked about moving the race to the first Sunday in June ( June 1 or June 8) to de-conflict with the ever growing Hula event that is now taking up most of the lodging during the third weekend in May. I realize that regatta starts at the same time and was curious to get feedback on what you thought on both topics please!!

OC paddling on Barbados or Antigua?

Heading to Barbados and Antigua on a cruise this month and just know I'll be looking to get out of the big boat and into a smaller one...

...does anyone know of any OC1 or OC6 paddlers on these islands?

Thanks for any help/suggestions.
