Extreme Moffat Run - Video

With the Release of the Dume Run (OC1) video by Painteur and Cho and the Extreme Millers Run (surfski) by Rob Mousley, i felt i had to raise the bar again with a new video of the Moffat Run. Well i think i may have done it, it was awesome to do, but hey, you be the judge.

With bump chasing, trough runs, angle offs, linking and drops filmed in slo-mo and real time, this video could be used as instructional footage for downwind ocean racers wanting to learn more. It's all very clear to see the different techniques and did i have a ball paddling and editing this video. Anyway enough from me ... here it is.

Do yourself a favor and download the HQ version and have a permanent copy on your PC.

What's missing??

With all this talk about coverage for our sport and getting it into the "mainstream" in todays society. It makes me wonder what's missing from our sport that keeps it as it is today?

I've had several discussions with friends and paddlers about this, and it seems that our sport is not "EXTREME" enough or doesn't have that "extreme" factor. And there's also the topic of our audience not being able to see our races unless you're at the start or finish. Where's the appeal?

I'm not a forum or blogger guy. Just a dude that likes to paddle. So don't pose your questions back to me because I probably won't respond. Just want to see what everyone else thinks about our "extreme" or not sport?

Harvs' new outrigger Book

Having spent the last week on my coffee table, i must say Harvie Allison's new book is a must have for any paddler who enjoys great photography and terrific action shots. The pictures tell the story of the Vaka Eiva races, the people, the canoes and the cultural ties that bind it all together

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Some times i find it hard trying to explain to non paddling people, that outrigger paddling is more than just a sport, well now i can just hand them this book and say, this is what i do. It's all there, the heart and soul of Outrigger Canoeing .. Cook Island style.

You can order them from Harv's website http://www.harvpix.com
The book is getting rave reviews in Rarotonga ... and why not they luv him.

I'm drifting back to Paradise via the coffee table, can't put that damn book down.

Cheers Rambo
