Forgot Something?

Noted there is a new posting of a "used" Waveblade OC2 in the Classified Section. I also noted that the paddler sitting seat 2 may have forgotten something?

Older Kaiwi Challenger for sale

I have an older Kaiwi Challenger for sale. It is in decent shape. It does have one 8 inch crack in the main hull near the seat area that has been successfully sealed for years with clear tape. I live in the "real" northern Calif, near Eureka.

Downwind Sled

I know they have a light weight 4 man canoe on Maui. I have not seen it or heard much about it. I was thinking there may be a demand for a canoe that is light enough to carry on truck racks and that four guys can sit in comfortably and that is outlined similar to the Tahitian style sleds.. It would be sweet to do a Hawaii Kai down run and then be able to put the canoe back on the truck and if conditions are right....do another run.. I really think there is a market for that kind of canoe. . Anyone check out demand yet ? I would buy one...I know others who would.

OC-1 Wanted in San Diego

Someone posted a OC1 for sale ASAP, boat in San Diego, and I don't know how to contact them (no email or phone number) I'm new to the OCPaddler. If the person selling it is reading this please contact me at dtrombley@sandi.net. I'm looking for a good outrigger in the San Diego area less than 2000. Refinishing a Makana paddle

I have 2 Makana paddles , probably about ten years old now. Just returning to OC1 after 8 years away. Paddles have some wear on the shaft, blade, etc. Should I re-finish it?

Puffy ama versus Bixler ama!

From a steersmans point of view, which of those two types do you prefer and why?

Positive Caster Rudder "PCR"

Saw this on another website and thought it might have applicability for front steering OC-2's that tend to breakaway on the ama side: http://www.surfskimod.blogspot.com

This angle of the shaft might help counteract the tug of the ama and prevent breakaways that sometimes occur with OC-1's also?

Seat height

This is a question that's been bugging me for a while. From my first OC1 10 yrs ago or so..to my most recent canoe, I've noticed that the seats have been getting progressively lower..being built into the canoe rather on top. With my newer canoes, I've been building up the seat area AND angling it such that it sits higher in the back..and lower in the front. This seems to work best for my aching back and leg pain during long runs. What's the advantage of being lower to the water line except balance issues?
