V1 comparisons

Over the years we have talked about the differences and personality's of various OC1. Anyone have any feedback on V1? The Aukahi is the latest v1 to be produced in Hawaii, how does it compare to Temana or Tevanui?

Lost OC-2 on July Fourth

Lost!!!!!! Wave blade OC-2 with Red and yellow deck and White hull. The "WAVEBLADE" sticker has peeled away and reads "BLA". It was lost outside Aquarium Kaimana area of Waikiki and had no ama and half of each iako sticking out. It was lost on July 4th at night after the fireworks around 9 pm. hybrid paddle question

I'm looking into purchasing a new paddle. I'm wondering why they don't seem to make a hybrid paddle that has a carbon shaft and wood blade (or at least I haven't seen any...)

Does anyone know the reason? I've found all carbon, all wood and wood shaft with carbon blade. But no carbon shaft with wood blade.

Thanks!

Bradley Striker

I am trying to identify an older boat in our inventory.

The iakos are NOT lashed onto the ama using any holes through the ama. The iakos simply lie on a black 3/4"thick square 4"x4" plastic plates where the iakos intersect the ama and are lashed around the slight ridge provided by these plastic plates.. There are no notches in the manu ihu or manu hope, but otherwise the boat bears a strong ressemblance to a Force Five except for the ama. Perhaps it is a "married" boat made up of the parts of two very different boats.

paddle shape

why are( some) modern Hawaiian paddle blades(lauhoe) shaped almost straight across?Having seen Tahitian paddle blades(rapa) almost all my life,it's more of a visual contrast.Old Hawaiian paddles did not have the lauhoe straight across.I was just wondering what inspired the change. It seems to me that the more tear drop shape would make it slide into the ocean smoother .Anyways, just curious.Looking to buy a paddle for my oc-1 here in Hawaii, don't want to bring one back from Tahiti.I always believe in buying local, as much as possible, where ever I might be.Is Kialoa local,or made in China?(proba

custom truck racks

I heard about a guy in Hawaii Kai that builds custom racks for trucks. I think his name was Bobby or Robert. Does anyone have a contact number for him? Mahalo for your help.
