Hurricane .. just came. How do...

... I remove the seat from the track? It appears that there is a open space at the forward end for the tab to unlock the seat, but I am unable to simply lift it off. I make things .. and I can see a couple of things I can do without needing to modify anything.

I just traded up from an 18' Alden Ocean Shell and this, to a newbie's eyes, is a piece of jewelry by comparison.

Best OC-1 on the Oahu market?

Looking for experienced paddlers' own input about what brand and style Canoe you like, if you could chose to buy any NEW canoe you wanted right now?

Hydration pack - location

Hi, am about to do a race in an OC2 where you have to wear a PFD - some well intentioned European thing I guess. Usually I wear a back pack style hydration pack but this isn't good over a PFD. Having looked at some photos of OC1s etc there seems to be a variety of approaches to where the hydration pack gets mounted. I'd prefer to maybe tape it onto the deck and use an extension tube if necessary so the pack is out of the way. Anyone have experiences of this? Does tape stay well fixed to a deck during a 2hr race?

Osprey Feedback

Osprey Feedback

I would like to hear from some Osprey paddler's on there take of the boat. How does it work in the flat and medium condition's.Does it maneuver quicker on the bumps compared to my Zephyr and is the low volume good for a 6'-175lb person- it seems comparable to my old Hurricane in size. I am unable to demo this boat in California at the present.
Thanks for any feedback.

"Art and Skill of Steering" book - is it worth it?

Is the book "Art and Skill of Steering" worth $62? The price by itself is not what bothers me, it's just that, as you all know, we can keep spending money on gear and books forever, and I'm making serious efforts to cut back. This summer I will steer an OC 4 and I've never done so. But I'm a respectable paddler, board and canoe surfer, and so forth, so I think that I can learn what I have to on the water and by talking to people. Will I really get $62 dollars of skill and art from the book that I couldn't get just by doing it? Thanks for any input.

V-1 versus OC-1...sorry if this has already been asked but I'm seriously looking

I'm new to this site, and I apologize if this question may have been asked already. :) Knowledge is power and hence
I'm trying to get as much information as possible before I actually purchase my own canoe. I'm curious to know peoples' experiences with the V-1 versus the OC-1. Also if experienced OC-1 paddlers have tried the V-1, what was their impression?

Waxing? yes or no?

Before every race I wax my outrigger with boat/car wax. The outrigger feels much smoother. Is it only mental or works it really well?
Which outrigger is faster, with or without wax?
(The skin of a shark is not perfectly smooth)

OC-2 ama

what are the pros and cons of the ama on an OC-2 only on the second seat and not covering the first seat? why do some boats have this and some boats it goes over both seats?

Oc-1 Lay up with Epoxy resin....

Aloha nui, i been building Oc-1 here in Argentina fo the past 2 years, using Poliester resin, stone age hand layups with a final weith of 35pounders.....and some times a bit more, the deal is, even though Epoxy-carbon fibers and foam core technilogies are very, very expensive here, i feel like making a prototype.

what you recomend? i was thinking building myself one with Epoxy resin and regular fiberglass layup for this first time, no carbon fibers, cause of its cost.
