Perfect surfing conditions and spectacular scenery treated early arrivals to a great run in 15-20 knot trade winds. The course was Kalihiwai Bay to Haena along Kauai’s beautiful north shore.

Josh Crayton sent in some articles and results of the USACK Team Trials in San Diego this past weekend. The races featured many names familar to the outriger community racing Olympic regulation sprint canoes and kayaks in 500m and 1000m races.

Kai Bartlett wins Starbucks Maui Challenge

We realize the time and energy, not to mention the funding, it takes to attend a race on another island and so Maui Canoe & Kayak Clubs thanks all of you for making the trek to Maui. After a month of monsoon rains, flooding, and bacteria laced muddy run-off, the paddlers of YMCA Kauai Hoe Wa’a were happy to toss raincoats aside to participate in the 7th race of our season on Sunday, April 9. Both short and long course divisions started at Kalapaki and headed to Poipu. Finishes were held at Poipu Beach Park and Kukuiula Harbor for the short and long course respectively.
