Thibert Lussia, April Hocson win O'Shaughnessy's race

Results of today's 3rd HIPA race of the 2006 season. The O'Shaughnessy's Puna Challenge saw the paddlers entering the water at Richardson's Beach Park in Keaukaha, and the short course entries paddled 6 miles directly to Hilo's Bayfront, while the long course went south for 2 miles before turning and finishing at Puna's halau at Bayfront after paddling 10 miles. The long and short courses were followed by a 4 mile race for Junior paddlers.

Big turnout for Sarento's season opener race

Newlywed’s Kai & Lauren win their respective divisions in the MCKC Sarento’s Season opener. It was a classic South Maui, Kihei day, warm sunshine, calm waters, turtles and a lot of muscle (and a whole lot of strong will) to get through it all. The carrot at the end of the stick? That’s got to be Aaron’s spread of food, drinks and live music at Sarento’s Restaurant.

Flat, hot conditions for Kaua'i Race 2

The second race of the YMCA Kauai Hoe Wa’a season went off very smoothly considering the fluctuating weather conditions. Race directors Mark Frazier and Butch Keahialalo had their hands full and had to make a last minute course change.

Uncle Louie Kumukahi Kelekolio Race Results

HIPA's second event of the 2006 season, the 20th running of Keoua Canoe Club's race, dedicated to the memory of Uncle Louie Kumukahi Kelekolio, took place today at Honaunau. The day started with a special 2 mile kids' event, won by the two man team of Chase Von Nordheim and Sayer Palakilo.

Nick Agorastos, Cherisse Kelii win 19th Stan Cann Classic

Results of the first HIPA race of the 2006 season, the 19th running of the Stan Cann Classic. The day began with a Juniors race, followed by the 4 mile short course which ran up the coast from Hilo Bay and returned to Bayfront and Kamehameha Canoe Club's halau.

Dave Kalama on top in Maliko day after states race - Aug 7

Why did we run an OC-1? Maliko race the day after states? Easy, so that all our visiting friends who came to Maui for the States and whom may never make it over during the OC-1 season would get a chance to experience our downwind run. Was it worth it? You bet ya!
