15-20 mph trade winds, a south east ground swell and a dropping tide going to slack made for pretty good conditions in Kanaka Ikaika's race #3 from Makai Pier to Kaimana Beach. The short course started in Hawaii Kai. It may have been the 3rd race of the season for many of the 163 participants, but it was the coming out party for many of the island's best paddlers making it a very competitive field.

Results of today's HIPA race, the 3rd Annual Hurricane Invitational. Paddlers entered the Alenuihaha Channel at Keokea Bay, and paddled around the northern tip of the Big Island to the finish line at the Old Coast Guard station at Honoipu Landing, 10 miles to the south.

Results of the O'Shaughnessy's Pineula Vaa East Hawaii Challenge, held today, Saturday, Jan. 26. Long Course was 9.5 miles from Richardson's Bay to Hilo Bay via "Radio Tower" south of Keaukaha.
