, it mentions the bad that comes from lactic acid production in the muscles. I have read a little about the “benefits” of lactic acid training, but don’t really get it. does anybody have any insight to this type of training?

Since there has been a lot of talk about the " lightning " vs the " mirage " being the canoe for the channel, how about the " ama? " Which ama seems to be the best for the channel? I know that some of the Mirage riders have opted to use a different type of ama ( mana ) instead of the " puffy. " Or attach a puffy to the lightning and putting the " io " ama to the side. Has the io ama been attached to another type of canoe other than a Bradley? Are we smarter than the canoe builders who have assemble this or is it a matter of trail and error? What do the canoe builders think of this?

How did SUP get all kinds of money for a race, and we can barely get enough to keep the Na wahine and Moloka?i Hoe races going even when paddling is our state sport???

I just ordered my 2nd Broadreach paddle. This one with the "Hawaiian" blade . This will be a more every day use paddle for someone my size instead of a monster workout paddle like the Tahitian blade aka "snow shovel". Of course the big Tahitian blade is what the Livestrong guys and others use everyday! I tried one out and it is just a lightweight yet very solid feeling paddle. Im not the most experienced paddler so its tough for me to say technically what feels good. It just does, not to mention they are really cool looking! And thats what wins races right?? Once I get it Ill post some photos for anyone interested.

OK, Ive learned an insane amount of information on ocpaddler about hydrating, what to eat before, after, blah blah blah. Im curious now, for those of you who train a little more seriously than others and try to take in more calories, fat, carbs, etc, what types of foods/meals work for you? Its hard to take in enough calories eating lighter, healthier foods and too much heavy, high calorie food makes me feel sluggish. If your into nutrition youll know what im asking. Just looking for thoughts, suggestions, ideas.
