Where is the trophy ?

Where is the trophy ?
Shell came back to Tahiti without it...
They first were told that the trophy does not exist ! But it can be seen on the pics taken at the arrival last year.
Then they were told that it's at the Bank of hawaii, and nobody can find it.
Finaly they were told that the race rules don't say that the trophy has to be given to a 3 times winner...

Where's the truth ?

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME SHELL CAME FOR THE MOLOKAI HO'E AND DID NOT WIN ?

CAN ANYONE TELL ME ? BECAUSE THEY HAVE BECOME FREAKISHLY FASTER THAN EVERYONE IN THE LAST THREE YEARS IN THE MOLOKAI CHANNEL . I KNOW THAT HISTORICALLY IN MOLOKAI , TEAMS HAVE HAD A COUPLE OF NEAR WINS BEFORE THEY BECOME CHAMPS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF A FEW . DID SHELL EVER HAVE NEAR WINS LIKE 2NDS , 3RDS , OR TOP 10 FINISHES BEFORE THEY WHENT ON A SUPER HUMAN MARCH TO THREE CONSECUTIVE WORLD RECORD SMASHING TIMES . THEY DIDNT JUST BREAK THE RECORD THE FIRST TIME THEY SHATTERED IT . I CANT RECALL A TEAM OBLIVERATING THE RECORD OF A SPORT BY SO MUCH . I HAVE ALWAYS HEARD ABOUT THERE TEAM INTERNATIONALLY KICKING ASS BUT MOLOKAI IS A MUCH DIFFERENT BEAST THAN ANY OTHER AND THERE PERFORMANCE IS BORDER LINE SHOCKING . I CANT BELIEVE HOW FAST THESE GUYS ARE .

2009 Pa'a solo

Any dates for the 2009 Pa'a solo yet? The HIPA site lists the Molokai Solo on May 17th but I think thats the Epic race.

Big Island One Manners

I don't know the boat builders name, and I don't know the name of the one man, but it's the builder that took over Steve Blyths old wave blade company.

Anyway, he introduced a new one man last year and I was wondering how that thing works. I heard from one of my big island friends who is trying to dump his one man so that he can buy this new boat.

So, boat name....and comments about the boat. Real interested to hear about it.

Jaws Out.

money for races / sponsorship / FUNDING!

Ok, here I go. I'm kind of getting worked up hearing about the races not being put on because there is no "MONEY!!"

I have had this idea in my head for a while now and i think it's time I share it. I mean, why not????

I can understand how everyone asks or looks for sponsorship for their teams or for the association/races. But that's the "old" conventional way of doing it and I think the corporations or companies that we ask don't want to sponsor the races or teams any more because they see it as a one way win situation. And they're not on the winning side!

So....Basically, I think we need to look at the what we do have to offer the corp/companies that we ask to sponsor!! And what we have are numbers!! And that should be used to our advantage. HCRA has what? maybe 5,000 members throughout the islands. IVF has maybe double that with our international counter parts? What I'm trying to get at here is that we need to use that to our advantage to get these companies to want to sponsor us.

Here it is. We need to take our memberships one noch higher. Make it like a AAA, or costco membership. Where if you're a HCRA/IVF memeber you get a discount by showing your (HCRA/IVF) membership card at say, I don't know zippy's for a 10% discount, or special deals at Costco, or discounts on airfare/hotels/rental cars. Use our numbers to our advantage to give these companies traffic in their places. And give our members incentives to want to go to our sponsors when they are traveling/shopping/whatever!

I'm not quite sure if this came out as clearly as it should. Or if it even makes sense to anyone???? But what do you all think? I mean, i ain't no genius and I by no means know how to get started with this whole idea, but I would hate to see our sport get down graded because of lack of funding or support. ALOHA!!

Having Photos show up in post

I searched and couldn't find. Can someone please send me the instructions on how to do this again?

NFL...er...Outrigger Racing...Highlights

Eight or nine years ago an OC-6 manufacturer's rep gave me a VHS tape of a Hawaiian Race put together by a local TV station. It was great. I should it to a group of teenagers and it was so good it mysteriously disappeared. I think it even had jazzy music in the background like NFL highlights.

I've never seen anything like it available since. With the discussion on another thread about sponsors, I'd like to suggest a jazzy race DVD would be a great sales and recruiting tool.

Also, here in the Northern Hemisphere, it would be a great cure for those cold wintry nights.

Maybe I've missed something and Rambo is selling this sort of item even as we speak.
