Southern California Waters

Hi Everyone, I am still trying to decide which OC1 to get. I have demo'd all the Hukis (way too much volume for me), Hurricane (OK size), Pegasus (liked the fit). I am not a good enough paddler yet to determine which one will be best out on the water. Some people suggested the Nai'a Iki, and I have a lead on a used one.

OC-2

My girlfriend and I are looking at buying an OC-2. We are both around 135 pds and want something for open ocean and racing but still stable enough for our teenager girls to use. What's the best choice. I am hearing Tempest but have not tried one yet?

Lost QuickBlade Paddle Kaimana Beach Park

I just lost my QuickBlade paddle, left it on the grass at Kaimana after the PA'A Toys for Tots Race... I had a friend check to see if it was there not too long after but we think someone already picked it up. Any info would help, call

OC1 Cost: Pueo v. Others

As may be seen in the Demo Day thread I'm looking for a new OC1. Considering individual boat cost, shipping, and tax the Pueo is roughly $500-$800 more than the Kai Wa'a and Outrigger Connection boats I can buy new locally.

Just wondering why? I suspect it is because the Pueo is made in the USA. Is this true and the only reason or am I missing something else? Maybe more costly materials and/or better lay-up? I'm sure the additional, almost unlimited graphics choices also adds a little to the overall expense.

Found: Lost or Possibly Stolen Kialoa Paddle

A Kialoa Paddle recently came into my possesion under semi-shady circumstances. If you lost or had your paddle stolen in the last two months please identify any unusual characteristics and if it the one I have it will be returned instantly.

Carrying a handheld Floating VHF radios vs a cellphone

People sometimes bring up the importance of carrying a cellphone when paddling solo and offshore. I wonder though if a handheld floating VHF radio like this.. http://www.marineproductreviews.com/electronics/icom-m34-floating-handhe... would be better suited for us. On the outer islands, it is easy to get out of cell range on the water and at least with a VHF radio you may have a better chance of hailing a vessel or the coastguard, not to mention it should be a more robust communication alternative.

Does anyone have experience with these radios and paddling an oc-1?

new iato design

Hi there.
Just for the art of mindgame :
Anyone ever thought of a design involving one iato instead of two ?
Could be interesting in order to clear the front, and play with ama balance fore and aft the main hull.

Don't know any structural resistance involved here, don't blame me I'm not a designer nor a builder !

Canoe Cracks

i have a mantra with about 10 little cracks in the gel coat around the boat, and a couple deep cracks where the kevlar/carbon fiber is showing. im planning on fixing this canoe and reselling it later on. i have tape over all the cracks, but water is still getting in. i was wondering how much it would cost to fix the whole boat? or would it be easier to just use the soapy water method of finding the cracks and fixing them individually myself? thanks
