How to fasten an OC ?

Hello guys
I wonder if anyone has had the same issue :
I can't find anywhere on the hull to fasten an OC to its storage shelf.
It's a bit of a concern, as my OCs are stacked outside, in an easy to tresspass backyard.
With my V1, I can easily turn a secured steel line around the seat or around a iako support.

Thanks if you've got some tips to share.

Pegasus speed in the flats?

There's a Pegasus for sale close enough to where I'll be travelling later this summer that it's of interest to me. From the photos it looks like a beautiful boat, and from the specs it sounds like it should be fast. I'm a little over the normal weight range recommendation (I'm typically 195 - 200 lbs, 6' tall). Any comments about how this boat runs in the flats? Would my extra weight (over the 180 lb max recommended) cause me any distress when the waves pick up? Thanks!

M2 Canvas/covers and hoops needed for Pailolo and Molokai Wahine Races.

Aussie women's crew are hiring a beautiful canoe for both the Pailolo Challenge and Na Wahine O Ke Kai Molokai Race. It is a new Mirage but unfortunately doesn't have a canvas or hoops. Putting an sos out to borrow or hire a set of covers and hoops for a M2 canoe or even a M1 and we can tape the back up!? Please let me know if you can help us out. We are looking forward to paddling in your beautiful waters.

My new OC1!

I'm just about to head down to the boat compound to pick up my new Hurricane! Three of us have been waiting since this winter for our 'ships to come in'. Finally the shipment from Ozone which arrived in Portland last month has made its way up north here to Vancouver.

It will be so motivating to have our own boats. Our club boats have served us well and we are grateful that we had the use of them but to have our own boats will take our training up a notch!

Just wanted to share the excitement!

Can you recall how it felt when you got your first OC1??!!

Roof Rack Saddles for Ama?

Hey everyone,

I am looking for a good set of saddles that will help me transport my ama on my roof rack.
I would like to use a hard set of saddles over the foam blocks if possible.
Normally, I keep my ama inside my SUV when transporting it.
However... when a downwind comes along... carpools, canoes, etc. you guys know the fun mess... that is the reason I would like to transport my ama on my roof rack if possible.

Currently considering these... Thule Hydro-Glide 875XT

If you use a set of saddles for your roof rack to carry your ama.

GPS watch mount for OC1

I am using a Garmin 310xt GPS watch and would like to mount it somehow on an OC1 so I can see my speed, distance and, eventually, heart rate data as I paddle. I haven't been able to find any mounts for a GPS watch, most mounts seem designed for the handheld GPS units.

Does anyone here use a gps watch mounted on their OC1 and, if so, what have you used to mount it on the canoe?

OC-1 Advice

I just finished my first season of paddling and am hooked. I am in the market for an OC-1 that I can continue to learn with for a year or two. I am not looking to do any extreme boating. I am in need of getting good time on the water practicing. I am 6'1" and 220 lbs. If anyone can make a suggestion about a good OC-1 to look at, I'd really appreciate the advice. Likewise, if anyone has one for sale, I'd be interested as well. Mahalo.

Bradley Lightening vs Bradley

I'm curious about the differences between a Bradley Lightening and a Bradley (does it have a model name?). Our club has a Bradley Lightening and I like how it handles, especially for sprints, when compared to a Mirage. We are being offered a Bradley 'non-Lightening' when we go to Kona to participate in the Queen Liliuokalani race this summer. As our crews steersperson, I am wondering what to expect when paddling the Bradley, sister to the Lightening.
