WANTED OC1 in JAPAN

I recently arrived in Kochi, Shikoku, Japan. I moved here from Vancouver, BC Canada this Spring 1 day before the big Earthquake and Tsunami hit Northern Japan. I am a former member of the False Creek Racing Canoe Club and really miss paddling out on the open ocean. I would love to start paddling again soon.

non-skid strips for steering blades

I'm in the process of refinishing a few steering blades. I've used the white non-skid tape from West Marine in the past, but have had mixed results. The main problem I've experienced with the West Marine non-skid is the way the non-skid grips the side of the hull. It seems as thought it's too hard and often slips.

I've seen the softer non-skid on the Kialoa and Malama steering blades, but have no idea where to find it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Garmin watch Mount

Does anyone have a picture of how they mount their Garmin watch to their canoe? Anyone fabricate something that I can copy?
I'd like to place it in front of me so I don't have to look at my arm to see speeds etc....

Where to get OC1 in tri-state area?

OC1 rudder & hull repair

Hi all,

two or three questions here.
The title tells all. Paddling my OC, I felt my hull go over something so quickly (relative to my poor reaction time) that my rudder struck it before I could react. Inspecting immediately, I found the rudder shaft bent enough to drive the back part of the rudder up into my hull. I returned to the put in and dumped 8-10 lb of water out.

Tahitian V1 update...

Late last year we began working on a group order of Tahitian designed and built V1's to be sent to Hawaii. All the emails, phone calls and trip Tahiti have finally paid off:) The order is in production as I write and will be completed by mid June at the latest. There are 2 V3's and 6 V1's going to San Francisco, Seattle, Utah and L.A. and 8 V1's coming Hawaii. We expect the container to arrive in August and look forward to getting them in the water! Buying 1st OC1 Advise

Hi I wanted any help or advise I can get. I want to buy my 1st OC1 but do not know which one to get. I am 6'-3" and weigh 165. I've been stand up paddle for a few years now and want to try something new. Not sure if I can or want to spend 3-4k on my 1st one. What do any of you think would be something for my weight, height and thickness of my wallet?? My wallet size is about 2k.

Hi all

Am trying to repair a scratch on my Hurricane, and for the life of me can't match the white paint- its not quite polar white! Is anyone able to help with the universal colour code for the white?

Cheers
Kat
